Psychodynamic Art Therapy
Psychodynamic Art Therapy is a powerful and evidence-based therapeutic approach that harnesses the creative process to explore emotions, behaviours, and patterns rooted in the unconscious mind. Grounded in psychodynamic psychology, this modality recognises that our past experiences, especially those stored beyond conscious awareness, significantly influence our present thoughts, relationships, and emotional responses.

Through art-making—using materials such as paint, clay, collage, or drawing—clients are offered a safe and non-verbal outlet to express and process complex feelings that may be difficult to articulate in words. The focus is not on artistic skill or outcome, but on the therapeutic process and the insights that emerge through reflection and guided exploration with the therapist.

Psychodynamic Art Therapy can support individuals navigating:
-
Anxiety and depression
-
Trauma and emotional dysregulation
-
Relationship difficulties
-
Grief and loss
-
Neurodivergent challenges (including autism and ADHD)

This modality is particularly beneficial for clients who may feel overwhelmed by traditional talk-based therapies, as it offers a gentle, accessible path to self-awareness and emotional resilience.
